J.K. Lee’s black belt academy was started in 1976 by Grandmaster J.K. Lee. Grandmaster Lee immigrated to the United States from Seoul, Korean in 1975. He has been teaching the Korean art of Tae Kwon Do for over 55 years. His philosophy in martial arts is that it is a journey of self discovery. He believes that martial arts training helps people find out who they are and what they are made of.
Grandmaster Lee’s son, Chan Lee, has been training in martial arts for over 30 years. He was the former Great Midwest Champion and has trained many national Tae Kwon Do champions out
of their school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In addition Master Chan Lee was the Wisconsin State coach for tae kwon do and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Grandmaster Lee and Master Chan Lee have trained major fortune 500 companies in martial arts, the U.S. National Speed Skating Team and the Marquette Men’s and Women’s basketball team.
Together they operate 5 schools in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

MTV MADE "KARATE KID" EPISODE
After an extensive interview process, Master Chan Lee was chosen to be the celebrity coach for the MTV TV show called MADE. The show picked a sedentary Wisconsin teenager and transformed him to a hardcore martial artist.
The show will be airing on Saturday, June 14 of 2008 at 1:00pm CST. This show really shows the true spirit of martial arts. Themes such as confidence and discipline will be featured on the show.
Master Chan Lee took this opportunity to do MTV as a way to promote the positive values of martial arts. Often times he see’s that people think of marital arts as just a form of fighting. He wanted to dispel that notion and show that martial arts is really about testing one self to see what they are made of and also cutlivating positive life skills.
Master Chan Lee believes that as long as a person is willing to push themselves in any endeavor they wish to accomplish, success will happen.
Here are some pictures from the upcoming episode of MTV Made. The episode J.K. Lee's is involved in as called the Karate Kid and it has been selected as the 100th episode of the 9 season show.
